PPIS
Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are drugs which act by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme in the parietal cells of the gastric mucosa. They thus decrease acid secretion by acting on the last physiological link of the process.
Dyspepsia
Dyspepsia is a common disorder which affects up to 30% of the general population. The symptoms of dyspepsia include pain or discomfort in the upper abdomen, as well a feeling of burning, pressure or fullness. These symptoms are often, although not necessarily, related to meals. Other common symptoms include early feeling of fullness (satiety), nausea, belching and bloating.
